The Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts of America provides the highest quality scouting programs for youth in the communities of Otsego, Schoharie and Delaware Counties in upstate New York. The mission of the Otschodela Council is to deliver, to the young people within our three county rural area of New York State, a quality program of leadership and citizenship development that prepares them to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes.
Camp Henderson is located atop Crumhorn Mountain in the town of Maryland. Henderson Scout Reservation has served as Otschodela Council's summer camp since 1948. Featuring a waterfront, fishing pavilion, archery range, rifle range, a nature lodge and so much more, Camp Henderson provides the ideal scouting experience.
Each summer, nearly 1000 scouts attend week-long resident summer camp at Henderson. Troops stay in one dozen permanent campsites, utilizing the camp's two-man tents, including cots and mattresses. Henderson offers many opportunities for advancement in our program areas including nature-conservation, aquatics, scout craft skills, field sports, fishing and handicrafts. All activities are conducted under the supervision of a full time adult staff member.
